What Price Options Are There For Professional Teeth Whitening?

Fortunately for many professional teeth whitening is not the only way to achieve a bright smile these days.  Once, only cosmetic dentists performed this task, however nowadays there are many more options available. Of course, you may have random questions regarding which type of option achieves the best results. When it comes to the best, professional teeth whitening remains perhaps the better choice providing you are able to afford it. However, over-the-counter options will also bring quite good results over time.

Of the different professional teeth whitening system options available, laser bleaching and the newer light teeth whitening treatments generally last longer than the tray teeth bleaching.  Usually they will only require one visit to the office and the results will last anywhere from twelve to eighteen months. When comparing professional teeth whitening prices, you will also find that these two options are also the more expensive although the initial investment does tend to pay off over time as it does not need to be repeated as soon as the other type of treatment.

In general, depending on the specific treatment and even in some cases the location of the dentist, prices range from around $600 for the light treatment to $1000 to $1200 for the laser treatment.  In comparison, the traditional tray teeth whitening method will cost around $400.  These figures will vary, and there may be additional charges for the visit as well as the treatment–those prices will also vary quite a bit.

While the tray treatment is obviously, at first glance, quite a bit cheaper you may find costs mounting during the course of the treatment. For example, you may have to go for several appointments and if there is a per visit charge this will increase the overall costs. You will also need to buy professional teeth whitening gel to use at home which also adds to the expense.

As far as which is the most effective, it seems that both the laser and light treatments will lighten your teeth up to seven or eight shades whereas the best you can hope for with the tray and gel treatment is around five shades. My recommendation, if you have the money for an initial investment, is to choose either the older laser treatments or the more modern light whitening treatments. Although the initial outlay is slightly more, the time involved is much less–usually just one visit to the dentist that lasts a couple of hours, and you do not have to repeat the treatment again for quite a while.
