What Is Meditation Software?

When I first heard about meditation software I imagined some kind of program running on a computer that would help me meditate, but that’s not exactly the case. What most people refer to is a meditation CD with relaxing meditation music. The reason it’s called meditation software is because it has been created with advanced technology that helps you effectively and automatic go into a deep meditative state.

In most cases you will be listening to some relaxing music or sounds while your brain is being stimulated to create new neural pathways between the right and left brain hemispheres. The effects are said to be the same as experienced meditation practitioners get after years of practice, but even if that isn’t truly the case it does sound pretty interesting. There are many meditation aids on the market and this could be the only one you will ever need if you like the approach.

There are several different meditation technologies on the market and if you look deeper into the subject you can expect to stumble upon words like binaural beats, monaural tones and isochronic tones and you will probably end up with more random questions than you started out with. Without getting to technical they are all basically sound impulses that create an interference pattern. And evidently that has a positive effect on the listener. The truth however is that the effects haven’t been studied a whole lot yet and you have to rely on your own judgment to determine if it really is working or not. However since it’s just sound waves the risk of negative side effects is very small and so far none have been found.

No matter the effects of the actual meditation program it’s as good as any approach to meditation for beginners where the most important part is to get a daily practice established. For those that don’t like to read meditation books and don’t have access to meditation class nearby it can be a very simple way to get started since you don’t have to do anything, but sit down in one of your favorite meditation chairs and listen to a CD every day. And if a meditation CD is what it takes for you to get the benefits of a daily meditation practice your money will be well spend in any case and if you receive some extra benefits that’s just great.

One of the most popular products on the market is Holosync and they offer a trial CD for free at their website. So if you are curious about meditation software I suggest you give it a try. I got the free CD myself and must say that the sounds are very pleasant and I do seem to fall into a deep meditative state, but I can’t say for sure if it’s because of the CD or not.
