Are There Diets That Work But That Are Not Expensive To Follow?
When people see how much weight I have lost recently, I find I am inundated with random questions about how I was able to lose so many pounds so quickly and whether I have any recommendations on diets that work well and that are fairly cheap to follow. After struggling with my weight for quite a few years and trying many different types of diets I have come to the conclusion that most sensible diets, when followed, will eventually help you to lose weight providing you are able to stick to them.
In my opinion, I have not really seen that many low carb diets that work well and allow you to keep off the weight you lose. Instead, rather than limiting the amount of carbohydrates I eat; I prefer to eat whole grain healthy carbohydrates in moderation. For optimum health while dieting, it is important to eat a balanced diet consisting of lean proteins, lots of fresh leafy vegetables including salad vegetables, and one small serving of whole grain carbohydrate with each meal. I also prefer to space my food out over six smaller meals each day rather than the traditional three larger meals. It goes without saying that you should avoid fast foods and other processed foods.
Sometimes it is important to lose weight quickly; perhaps there is an important social event coming up that you want to look your best for or you are planning a summer vacation. There are some diets that work fast for women although they should be used as a way to kick-start your diet rather than something you try to stick to for extended periods. A favorite of mine is the seven day Cabbage Diet. With this diet you make a soup consisting of cabbage, tomatoes, onions, celery and other items which is the basis of your diet; you can drink the soup as often as you want for each of the seven days. On each day you are also allowed to eat specific food items, such as one day where you only eat vegetables, another day where you only eat fruit, one day when you are allowed a specific amount of lean beef or chicken and you rotate through different food groups each day. I have found it possible to lose up to four pounds in one week while following this diet. However, while there are some crash diets that work, such as the Cabbage Diet, they should not be sustained for longer than one week at a time.
There are other similar diets that work fast in this way, and that allow you to quickly lose several pounds at once. However once the diet is finished it is important to continue on with a regular, healthy diet plan that will ensure you continue with your weight loss. Eating regular food that you can find at the market or in the supermarket also helps keep food costs down, so you can diet and not spend a lot of money on expensive meal supplements.
