How Can You Accent Rooms With Chandelier Lighting?

While every room may not be suited to chandelier lighting, you may be surprised to find that many rooms can accommodate this type of lighting very well. Typically, they are installed in rooms with high ceilings and in rooms where a more formal accent is desired. They are often also hung over dining tables where they enhance the overall dinner setting. However, you should not limit yourself to hanging chandeliers in those areas only, as it is possible to install them in many different locations to great effect.

Crystal chandelier lighting is appropriate for rooms with a formal décor. Although most of these types of chandelier are large and hang down from the ceiling, it is possible to hang them in rooms with a lower ceiling providing you shorten the cord that they hang on and choose a chandelier that is not too large. The problem with hanging a large chandelier in a smaller room is that it will often overshadow everything else in the room, drawing attention away from the rest of the furnishings rather than complementing the room.

Contemporary chandelier lighting is quite different from the older style crystal chandelier hanging down from the ceiling. For example, modern chandelier lighting can be far less ornamental and simpler in design than the classic chandelier design. It is deliberately designed to fit into more modern, and oftentimes more simplistic modern décor.  A popular choice of this modern style chandelier is black chandelier lighting. While it may not suit every living room it does look great in a room that features a minimalistic black and white, or black, white and metal design.

If you are thinking about installing a chandelier you should ask yourself several random questions about the effect you are trying to achieve and base your choice on the answers. For example, would a hanging chandelier look too ‘present’ in the room and if so, might it be best to choose a light that hangs close to the ceiling instead? Will it complement your existing décor or will you have to redecorate? All of these things are important to consider before you go ahead and purchase a chandelier.

With the large variety of options available these days, when buying chandeliers, you should be able to find something to fit almost any type of room, ceiling and style. Prices range according to the style and the size of the chandelier, as well as what type of material it is made from– crystal, glass or murano glass are some of the options available these days.
